Sample Jain wedding menu buffet in Jaipur

Sample Jain Wedding Menu

  • Welcome: kesar thandai in winter, or fresh lime when it is hot
  • Starters, such as Jain paneer tikka, raw banana tikki and khaman
  • Mains, including paneer kaju masala, gatte ki sabzi, kacche kele ki sabzi and dal tadka
  • Breads: tandoori roti, and also missi roti
  • Rice: jeera rice, since it suits every gravy
  • Sweets: moong dal halwa and rasmalai, or ghevar during Teej
  • Live counter: Jain chaat, made without potato

Every dish is cooked without onion, garlic, potato or other root vegetables. Instead, the gravies use tomato, cashew, curd and dry masalas, so they still taste full.

How to Change This Jain Wedding Menu

This is only a starting point. Families usually swap two or three dishes, such as adding a Rajasthani sabzi or a second sweet. If the function is in the day, we can add a Rajasthani thali style lunch with dal baati and churma. For an evening function, more starters and a second live counter work better.

  • Add ker sangri or papad mangodi if guests want a Rajasthani touch.
  • Swap a sweet for malpua or jalebi, especially in winter.
  • Add a Jain pasta or dosa counter, especially for younger guests.

Jain Wedding Menu With a Regular Buffet

Not every guest eats Jain food, so many families keep two sections. The regular buffet runs as usual, while one fully Jain counter sits beside it with clear labels. Also, we cook the Jain dishes separately, with their own utensils. Read more on our Jain catering page.
